Deformed Virgin Queen
Had to dispatch a deformed virgin queen today; running around in the hive but with stumps for wings. She looked odd and unhealthy anyway. Is this a result of varroa mites getting into a developing queen cell?

I have heard a couple of people comment that they have found mites in a queen cell so varroa has to be the prime suspect.
A couple of years ago I noticed that some queen cells which were chilled produced virgins with deformed wings.
