Default You can save the bees

I don't think that this new hive design has had an airing on SBAi yet. Looks great, well insulated, good working height ... what could possibly go wrong?

I think I'd be even keener if there were photos on the website of the hive actually containing some bees, rather than a fully-suited beekeeper examining a frame of foundation in a concrete, glass and grass desert ... still, looks a whole lot cooler than anything I own.

    About €400 since you asked

Looks a bit like Heidi's dung hive but made without the dung

Could also make a great lampshade! In the UK I'd rather use a timber box hive although in some parts of the world the hive we are used to is unsuitable.

I see you add bubbles when you add supers. I wonder how propolis will glue it all together.

But then, annoyingly the website goes on to say "In the United States, the loss of 30-40 percent of the bee colonies in 2006, has been linked to Colony Collaps Disorder, a syndrome of depopulation of beehives, characterized by the disappearance of worker bees" Maybe true, but it gives a false impression as bees can make that up fairly easily each year.. So a plastic hive will make all the difference!

Dennis Van Engelsdorp said recently that there have been no proven CCD cases for about 4 years.
I think there is some regret that the term CCD was ever coined.
To this day we are still getting stories about bees dying out in the UK press.

    Barbeque and beehive combo
That's good design except it's plastic
They missed a trick there 😉

D'oh! Just realised the problem I'll have balancing my extractor when I load up the super frames ... <slaps forehead>

There's some anti-neonic stuff on the web suggesting that Hackenberg has lost his bees again (though I can't find an original source for this) and he's certainly filed a lawsuit against the EPA for licensing/misuse of neonics.

never mind the extractor, thornees will have to sell foundation in even more different sizes

You could almost set your clock by the annual appearance of that story.
Hackenberg is the main poster child for CCD - whatever that is.
