Question How long in temp location prior to permanent home location

    Hi everyone,

I will be moving a swarm from my garden to it's permanent home which is located about 300 yards from my garden. Clearly I need to placethem elsewhere first, but the literature is confusing. Is there a minimum time that I can leave them in their temporary home prior to moving them to their permanent location without returning to my garden??

    Many thanks!
    Martyn

    Hi
you can put it in your basement (or anywhere else cool and dark) for 3-4 days (make sure they don't dry out).
They will be fine after that. It is easier to 'reset' a swarm as they are effectivly homeless.
@Linchpin yes for a artificial swarm or made up nuc, but then better 4 weeks until the majority the flying bees have died off. Swarms dont mind so much and will start making their home quickly when they have some comb or wax sheet to start of with.
