    Default Bee venom query

Does anyone know if contact with bee venom, say by touching a bee suit, can bring on a mild reaction. I took my husbands suit to sew up a hole and about an hour later felt dizzy. Now feeling sick and dizzy and a bit weird like a very much milder reaction of the anaphylaxis type I had last year.

I don't mean to cast aspersions on people's experiences, but the the only sensible suggestion has to be seek proper medical advice.

That's an Interesting theory Kitta. I had of course been stung before the anaphylaxis but in the year before only minor stings through gloves. I shall tell Fraser he needs to get the occasional sting then!

Not that keen on hens, I've tried that and here the pine marten would get them before the fox and the terrier.
I went to get some supplies from our local supplier Highland Bees yesterday. I'd forgotten how many bees would be around and in the shop lots of dead bees on the windowsill. I started to feel a bit nauseous so got away pretty quick. Suppose that was breathing in the venom dust again. Roll on next Feb when the desensitisation programme begins.

Most people seem to get sorted by the desensitisation Bridget so best of luck when that gets underway

You probably know all that stuff off by heart
I don't know when KBS (Kemble bee supplies ) stopped trading but they used to sell an Italian very light yellow queen
Those were imported from New Zealand possibly
People loved them because they never stung
That was great for a garden or allotment in London or other big cities or kids
The downside was that they needed loads of food to overwinter and they seldom produced a honey surplus
    So basically they were ornamental
