Bee venom query
Does anyone know if contact with bee venom, say by touching a bee suit, can bring on a mild reaction. I took my husbands suit to sew up a hole and about an hour later felt dizzy. Now feeling sick and dizzy and a bit weird like a very much milder reaction of the anaphylaxis type I had last year.

Yes.. Ingestion through venom dust breathing or through pores.

That's an Interesting theory Kitta. I had of course been stung before the anaphylaxis but in the year before only minor stings through gloves. I shall tell Fraser he needs to get the occasional sting then!

I went to get some supplies from our local supplier Highland Bees yesterday. I'd forgotten how many bees would be around and in the shop lots of dead bees on the windowsill. I started to feel a bit nauseous so got away pretty quick. Suppose that was breathing in the venom dust again. Roll on next Feb when the desensitisation programme begins.

I don't know when KBS (Kemble bee supplies ) stopped trading but they used to sell an Italian very light yellow queen
Those were imported from New Zealand possibly
People loved them because they never stung
That was great for a garden or allotment in London or other big cities or kids
The downside was that they needed loads of food to overwinter and they seldom produced a honey surplus
So basically they were ornamental
