If you've prepared a cell raiser that's bulging with bees and queenless ... dress appropriately when opening it to add the grafts

This is not the time to rely on a kilt, a sgian dubh, and a fag

Even if you do live in Fife

While patching my new poly hive I checked the repair cement from Paynes which cost £5.50 I thought

    Best before £6.60

Even better ...... £1.73 for 900g of generic dry powdered filler from B&Q. Or £2.76 for a tube of pre-wetted Polyfilla.

Remember to close your hood's zipper.

I was recently transferring bees from a nuc into a full hive and thinking these bees are really loud
They were in the hood with me (not zipped at all)
Lucky they were more interested in getting out rather than in attacking me

In addition to doing up your top...

Do up your bottoms! How many times have I been told: "Bees like to go up"? More than enough to remember by now not to go into strange apiaries with shoes and trousers flapping in the wind. Ho hum.

Oh and you need to be further away than that before you take your hood off.
