Default Looking for a beekeeper in the Blackburn Region .. rural hive space available

    Hello

Firstly I know this is a Scottish site, but I know it is also popular with beekeepers in other parts of the UK.

A friend of mine lives in Mellor, a rural area in Lancashire, near Blackburn. He has a large garden and after reading about the plight of the honeybee is interested in having bees.

He doesn’t really have the time to look after them himself, but would obviously be a keen observer.

Does anybody here perhaps know of an existing beekeeper who would be interested in having a couple of extra hives sited in Mellor.

    Thank you

    Willie Bee

Why not get your friend to plant more flowering plants to attract pollinators to his/her garden getting bees will not help polinators, the problems are habitat loss, fragmentation, pests and diseases and chemicals. if you keep bees in a hive and not looking after them you are only contributing to the problem, So do not use pesticides, plant more pollinator friendly plants. A well stocked garden will attract Bumblebees, hoverflies, Honey bees, Butterflies and moths probably much more enjoyable than keeping honey bees. If it was not for the excess honey that honey bees store very few people would be interested in keeping bees. So plant more flowers.

I think there are 2 associations in this area.

If you contact the secretary of both they should be able to help.
