Log-in issues
Hi Folks
You might like to take special care logging in. Some occasions when you make a mistake logging in you don't get the usual five attempts before it locks you out of the system for 15 mins.
For the technically minded:
- at the recent server trouble our web hosts seem to have started using a proxy server which means that instead of each of us having individual IP addresses recorded the software now sees only one for everyone logging in.
- the 'lock-out' system applies to IP addresses
- this now seems to mean that any recent log-in failure (from friend or interent foe) starts the '5 in 15 min' totting up procedure and so - on occasion - you may get only *one* attempt at logging in before it locks you out. At other times you may get the full 5 attempts.
Does this accord with others' experiences?
Not sure how to fix this, but I'll try. I don't want to switch this protection off as we need it to keep out automated hacking devices.
