    Default Banking queens

I am going to try overwintering the spare queens I had this year in various types of nuc, one option was to join the 2 apideas I bought recently, for some reason I thought they were designed to join up? I have put them together, but will probably end up tapping them together

Just remove the floor of the top one and tape around it with gaffer tape, or if you want to be more elaborate make a correx skirt to unite the two and tape it up.
I overwintered 4 double apideas last year.
You can buy an apidea super which takes 5 frames and slots in above the apidea for about £12.

Thanks jon, I'm assuming they came through successfully. I've 5 frames in the bottom, 3 on top with feeder.

Be wary of absconding at the moment.
I have a couple of apideas which try and abscond every afternoon.
I actually caged several queens yesterday as I don't want them escaping.
You can put the cage in the feed compartment until you need to introduce her to a colony or a nuc.
I pin a strip of plastic excluder across the front as the wee red bit only has 3 slots and is very restrictive on a full apidea.
