Our local rag says there is AFB in Inverness-shire. Is this true. I did sign up for the alert for diseases but not heard anything.

Yes. an e-mail went out to local secretaries from the SBA to pass on to their members
I think perhaps it's not near enough to you for you to be alerted in the normal course of events. I gather it's near Inverness in an area where it was found before.
Thanks all.
Hi
thats it? Wow, here there is an immediate ban on transport of bees in and out of a big area around the site where the xfb is located. Samples are taken from surrounding hives in the area and are tested. There are some legal aspects that I cannot remember of the top of my head, but if you try to remove hives from the area to there are heavy fines.. Luckily we haven't had that here in a while. Over the border in Austria they've had problems, but now they offer free testing to every club member to try and get a better hold of it.
Just go a news cutting about the outbreak...
Travel ban for hives and equipment out of the affected apiary - did anyone tell the bees?
Here is the German Law regarding AFB, maybe Doris could do a list of highlights from it...
