A shed drops in ...

At the crack of dawn a specialist team of local carpenters headed off in their truck and pitched up at the association apiary, desperate to drink coffee, eat biscuits, and generally get on with the work of the day. Their efficiency was remarkable and by the time I blinked they were putting up the last part of the roof.

It took Neil and the lads maybe 45 mins to finish the job, and now the ESBA Apiary is really taking shape. Thanks guys! Thanks too to Grant and Caroline .... our local family-run shed makers are Gillies and Mackay, famed throughout the area for their friendly and efficient production delivery and erection of wooden buildings of all shapes and sizes. If you visit their showroom at East Inchmichael Farm near Errol, be sure to stop off at the Cairn o'Mhor winery for even more delectable local produce. Maybe I'll persuade Ron one day to try making a Carse of Gowrie Mead - one of those years when I actually have much of a honey surplus.

The shed could house a family of five, but will instead be home to a wide variety of beekeeping equipment to be assembled in the next couple of months.

One of the association regulars was telling me tonight that they supplied his shed, garage and honey house, all still going strong many, many years later.
