I need more bees like I need a hole in the head as I am about 20 supers short of a load but nonetheless old habits die hard and I have a brood box with old comb in it on my shed roof.
There are dozens of scout bees around it this morning. I chucked some flour at them and they didn't go into any of my colonies. I only have one decent colony in the garden anyway and they are all dark.
These bees have quite a lot of yellow bands on them.
Off the top of my head I know at least 5 beekeepers within 2 miles and the Association apiary is 1.3 miles away. Everything is clipped there apart from one swarm which arrived on Monday in a bait box. I saw an unmarked queen in it.
