Can anyone advise where they source their microscopy consumables such as 95% alcohol, reagents etc in Scotland, or is the internet the best place to buy these types of items?

Thanks

Alex

Brunel Microscopes (http://www.brunelmicroscopes.co.uk/) supply stains, reagants and accessories but I don't see alcohol in their lists.

DIY superstores and some hardware shops will sell methylated spirits which is, of course, ethanol with additives. You might find that you can get it from a pharmacy in a purer form if you explain why you need it, not sure though.

Companies such as VWR (http://uk.vwr.com/app/Header?tmpl=/homepage/products.htm) supply universities, companies and research labs but I don't know if individuals can buy from them.

Graham Royle NDB has set up a new site with bee microscopists in mind. Try googling highfield bees.
