Guys came back from the north last night after boarding a group near Kingussie. (Not anywhere near Drumguish btw!)

One hive had roof sort of on sideways, a couple of combs lying on the grass and down between the hives, and five combs missing from a box of nice Langstroth deeps destined for cut comb.

No idea the standard of combs they took but a full one yields 14 pieces, which even after all costs deducted still returns about 3.00 per piece (200g)...so whoever it was possibly made off with about 200 quids worth.

Grrrrr.

Five combs missing....a small scale thief with a nuc box for transporting the ill gotten gains? I expect that a return visit may well be on the cards.

They are now cleared ready for returning home....by Monday the site will be empty of hives etc. If this particular team leader catches the thief in the act I fear for their safety....he is a body builder who is part of a fight club at home in eastern Europe.

And we all know what the first rule of Fight Club is ... ;)

You do not talk about Fight Club

Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) in the '99 film Fight Club (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523), based upon the novel by Chuck Palahniuk.

If you've not seen it you're in for a treat ... or not. It's an acquired taste.

Hit the other guy so hard he does not get up .. aim for nose or testicles.. or both (I used to do ju jitsu and the first rule drummed into you - if you HAD to fight - was to be as brutal as possible straight off. The other rule was to run away from fights ...:-)

Unfortunately violence will not solve anything. It would be best report it and if you had access to trail cam you could put it nearby to catch the perpetrator if they return.

You're well within your rights using reasonable force to detain a thief

This is a subject which seems to come up periodically so it may be worth reading the following link from the CPS:

Self-Defence and the Prevention of Crime

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjygNOQuIzXAhXMtBoKHcHGDV4QFggsMAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cps.gov.uk%2Flegal%2Fs_to_u%2 Fself_defence%2F&usg=AOvVaw1BYgnQogWGWpCPnatM0MVE

Of course, open discussion on the internet about what we might do, if given the opportunity, is never wise....

No closed rooms with good viewing windows stuffed full of angry bees and zip tied barely clothed bee thieves discussed here then ....

We keep a good look out for your hives every time we cross the moor.
