If we get 15c as predicted I will be checking for any drone layers which need replaced.
Been a while since I did any beekeeping.

11C here and blowing a hoolie, it says. Just as well - I'm off to Bee Tradex. (http://www.beetradex.co.uk/) Where it will be just as warm as Belfast.

It's Baltic here, still snow from this morning, a splatter just now at 3deg and to get colder and more snow tonight. No let up in wind & wet till this time next week, the ladies will need to wait a while longer for a visit.

6-8 inches of snow up at our mating site (and sleet here), so I'll get to stay local tomorrow and check the stores in my apiaries instead.

Me too - will you wear heather to be recognisable? :-)

Our local weatherman reminded us today that in the Highlands we get more snow in March than in December

Sorry to depress but... 16C here this afternoon, and though still some patches of snow in the Dark Peaks, we spotted some very sheltered shrubs with blossom partly out. Poss Blackthorn but as it was at the side of the road and we were driving identification was mostly guess work.

Was not as as good as I expected today. Mild, 14c, but far too cloudy and windy.
I opened one hive at the association apiary and pulled a frame which had sealed brood on it and I pulled a frame from an apidea which had a queen and freshly laid eggs on it but that was as far as I ventured.

Beautiful day yesterday for me. I checked the nucs and mini-nucs for stores. Mini-nucs OK but low on stores which isn't surprising, my thrown together nuc made up in the autumn with mini-nuc bees was OK but short of food so a frame of stores was put in and the other nucs were OK. However I didn't need to worry about chilling the brood as none had any brood in them! Can't check for drone-layers yet.
